A round up of brief pickup, SUV and automotive news items of note from the week ending March 20, 2026. Inflation Beats Truck Hobbyists and more.
We see a lot of news stories cross our desks in the course of a week. Not all of them are big enough to warrant a full writeup by your tireless Pickup Truck+SUV Talk staff, so we’re bringing you this weekly round up of all the little stories we thought you might want to know about.
Performance Truck Underperforms Inflation

Some of us strictly drive our trucks for work and everyday life — it’s a tool, not a toy! Others of us indulge our inner little boys and buy some sick, tricked-out ride with a souped-up engine, simply because we can. The last thing those of us in that second category need is a reminder of how expensive this hobby can be, but we have one a fun one today! This sick 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 just sold for $42,000 which is impressive for a decades-old truck, especially if you consider it originally sold for $45,000.
Of course, once you consider that $45k in 2004 dollars is equal to a whopping $77,850 today and the truck had just 41K miles plus thousands of dollars worth of aftermarket upgrades …well, let’s just say your plan of selling your cherry performance truck and retiring on the proceeds may be a little misguided. Still a cool-ass truck, though.
GM Thinks You Need More Screens

Truck enthusiasts aren’t shy about asking for their favored features, upgrades, and improvements to their favorite vehicles, and GM is listening! Maybe! According to at least one source, they’re adding an additional screen to new 2027 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado models. Not the thing we tend to hear people clamor for, but presumably they know what people want — a second screen in the cab to watch TV from the passenger seat. At long last the wife can catch up on the latest Real Housewives episodes while you drive. Or heck, make her drive and you can watch Real Housewives.
GM Recalls … Everything? Sort Of

First, the bad news: GM issued a recall that affects basically every 2026 model they make! The good news: only a small handful of each are potentially affected…and the “issue” is they forgot to preload a copy of the owner’s manual into the infotainment system. Considering you can still download the manual on your phone, tablet, laptop or home computer, and that no one reads the damn things anyway, you’re probably safe ignoring this one.
The Kei Truck Dream is Dead…Again

Our friends at Crankshaft Culture report that Oregon’s bill legalizing kei trucks — adorable, pint-sized pickups from Japan — for use on Oregonian roads is dead again. This time it was a casualty of a time-crunch. It died in committee, despite bipartisan support, simply because it wasn’t ever brought to a vote. Ah well, maybe next session!
