2023-2026 RAM 2500 Pickup Recall: 12.7K Vehicle May Exceed Tire Speed Rating

Almost 13,000 RAM 2500 pickups are being recalled for an issue with exceeding their tire speed rating.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2026 model year Ram 2500 Rebel and Warlock pickup trucks. A software error in the powertrain control module may improperly allow the vehicle speed to exceed the tire speed rating, which can result in a loss of vehicle control.

Affected VINs should be searchable now at the NHTSA website.

Descriptive Information: 

Some 2023 through 2026 model year RAM 2500 pickups may have been built with a vehicle speed calibration that can exceed the maximum tire speed rating.

The suspect period began June 21, 2022, when the first vehicle built with the incorrect speed calibration was produced, and ended on April 14, 2026, when the last vehicle built with the incorrect speed calibration was produced. The suspect period was determined using vehicle production records.

Similar vehicles not included in the recall population are equipped with different tires, were built with the correct vehicle speed calibration, or were built before or after the suspect period.

Description of defect or noncompliance:

A vehicle that can exceed the tire speed rating can reduce tire integrity, which can result in compromised vehicle control.

Chronology

On March 24, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into some 2023-2026 model year Ram 2500 Pickups which may have been built with a vehicle speed calibration that can exceed the maximum tire speed rating.

Between March 2026 and April 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering to review the issue, understand all potential failure modes, and to determine the suspect population.

As of April 24, 2026, FCA US is not aware of any customer assistance records, warranty claims, field reports, or other service records potentially relating to this issue for all markets.

On April 30, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a safety defect exists in certain vehicles.

Remedy

Description of Remedy

Remedy Type: Software

Description of remedy program: FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (“PCM”).

How remedy component differs from recalled component: The remedy is a PCM software update.

Description of recall schedule: FCA US will notify dealers on or about 05/14/2026 and begin notifying owners on or about 06/04/2026.
