American Expedition Vehicles, or AEV for short, is a Montana-born aftermarket company that builds trail-ready off-road parts, accessories, and turnkey overland-ready vehicles. AEV is more widely known for its recent partnership with General Motors on the GMC Sierra AT4X, Canyon AT4X, and the Silverado and Colorado AEV Bison models of the ZR2. AEV is expanding its heavy-duty footprint into the Ford market with the FXL, a new conversion for the Ford Super Duty that leans heavily into capability, refinement, and system-level engineering.
Complete, Turn-Key Super Duty Build for the Trails

This is not a collection of aftermarket parts thrown together; this is a fully integrated and cohesive conversion, engineered by AEV to eliminate the usual compromises that come with modifying a heavy-duty truck. Buy it, and hit the trails; it is that simple.
Standard 40-inch Tires

The FXL rides on 40-inch BFGoodrich HD-Terrain KT tires mounted to 18-inch Katmai DualSport wheels. That’s serious rubber for a Super Duty and a clear signal that AEV built this truck to handle more than mall parking lots.
Real Suspension and Real Protection

A 4-inch DualSport XP suspension with AEV-tuned Bilstein shocks does the heavy lifting underneath, while high-clearance steel bumpers front and rear provide functional protection where it matters most.
Steel Bumpers

AEV equips the FXL with a stamped steel front bumper and a high-clearance rear bumper, both designed to improve approach and departure angles without sacrificing durability. These aren’t cosmetic add-ons — they’re built to handle trail impacts, recovery duty, and heavy use while maintaining factory-level fit and finish on the Super Duty platform. In addition to the bedside step, the rear bumper has integrated corner steps for easy access to the bed.
Debuts in Detroit, Parts Available Soon

The AEV FXL will make its public debut this week at the 2026 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Tim will be in attendance and should have a first-hand take on this beast. For those who don’t want the full conversion, AEV will offer the individual components through its global dealer network starting Q2 2026.
Bottom Line

The AEV FXL is about building a Super Duty the right way. With massive tires, a purpose-built suspension, and true system-level engineering, this is one of the most serious factory-style HD conversions AEV has ever announced.
If you’re into big trucks built with intention, this one’s worth watching.
