The 2025 Q2 truck sales results are in and the Ford F-Series leads with the biggest sales increase meanwhile GM trucks dominate the full-size truck race, Ram sales rebound and the Toyota Tacoma wows.
2025 Q2 truck sales: full-size trucks
In the full-size trucks race, the Ford F-series lineup posted a double-digit sales growth, but that wasn’t enough to hold off the combined GM full-size truck sales with a combined number surpassing Ford by 20,000 trucks. GM has now started touting their truck leadership and they say they are poised to be the truck leader again for the fourth start year.
Ram has rebounded with a 16.8 percent increase for light-duty truck sales helped by a 10 year/100k warranty and the return of the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. The HD trucks are down and that’s likely due to the new model just now getting on dealership lots.
The Toyota Tundra had a bad second quarter and a refresh is needed for the truck with the competition all being redone since the 2022 3rd Generation truck came out.
For the discontinued Nissan Titan the remaining inventory is selling out.
2025 Q2 truck sales: midsize trucks
On the midsize truck side, the Toyota Tacoma saw a nice sales rebound largely thanks to finally getting fully stocked with inventory after a sluggish launch of the new model last year. This is the exactly the same for the Ford Ranger.
The Chevy Colorado, 2024 model delayed by months, narrowly hangs onto the number 2 spot and the Nissan Frontier had a poor showing in the fourth spot. The slight refresh doesn’t seem to be helping sales for the Frontier.
For the Honda Ridgeline there are some models that are affected by an ongoing stop sale over a rearview camera issue. The GMC Canyon, 2024 model delayed like Colorado, and Jeep Gladiator, which just dropped the manual transmission leaving only the Tacoma, round out the bunch of trucks with a bad Q2.
2025 Q2 truck sales: compact truck
The once hot compact truck market seems to still going for the Ford Maverick and could be helped by the new Lobo edition.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Santa Cruz has been slipping for a while now and just can’t seem to find the right mix.
2025 Q2 truck sales: electric trucks
For the electric trucks, one wants to see hope with the modest sales growth for the Silverado EV and Hummer EV, however, the current political climate is just so negative toward their future, it is hard to see anything but doomsday.
The current spending bill in Congress calling for the end of the EV tax credit, the about face on EV infrastructure spending and the slowing of EV buyers, just doesn’t paint a pretty picture.
Rivian recently laid off some staff. Tesla is expected to dramatically miss their mark for sales results, the charts will be updated to reflect this news when available, news stories abound of Cybertrucks sitting on lots and dramatic drops in resale value for those trucks as well.
It is just all bad on the EV truck front.

Our take
Forget EVs and the truck market is strong as ever despite the doomsday you hear from some people out there. Yes, trucks have gotten expensive and trucks are filled with more technology and luxury, yet the numbers don’t lie. That’s what consumers want.
