After a dealer leaked exterior shots of the all-new Toyota Tundra, Toyota took matters back into its own hands and started showing some photos of its own. First, we got the three-quarter front shot, and now, we get a very slim look at the 2022 Tundra interior.
That’s in addition to the engine cover they had already released.
While there’s not a lot to see in this image (see it better in the gallery at the bottom) – other than the beautiful landscape the truck is pointing toward – there are a few things we can discern.
Let’s start with the fact that this is likely the TRD pro version, per the orange vertical strip on the steering wheel. So, everything we see here is probably on the top-tier of available things – i.e. not standard.
If you move to the middle, you can see the top edge of the infotainment screen. From this brief glimpse, it appears Tundra will get the new Interface multimedia system that will debut in the Lexus NX. It’ll also have a large 10- or 12-inch screen (12.3 seems to be the popular number these days), probably as an available feature on lower trims or standard as you move up in the packaging.
That means it will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it will likely be (fingers crossed) wireless.
Next, it’ll get a JBL audio system. If you zoom in on the speakers on the A Pillars, you can see the JBL logo. This isn’t a surprise because Toyota and JBL kind of go hand-in-hand at this point.
Finally, if you look at the rearview mirror, it has a weird white sheen. I’m going to take that to mean it gets the digital camera mirror so that even if you have people in the back seat or cargo in the bed, you’ll be able to see out the back.
The bottom line on the 2022 Tundra interior
It appears as though Toyota is going to eke this reveal out for a while. We don’t think we’ll see the debut until fall, so I imagine we’ll see a lot of teasers between now and then. What do you think of the 2022 Tundra interior? Do you like what you’ve seen so far?
