As soon as Tim Kuniskis returned to Ram in December 2024, the rumors started swirling about the return of the Ram TRX powered by a supercharged Hemi V-8. It looks like we’ll know if the rumors are true on June 8.
Ram Trucks issued a teaser this week via Instagram and Twitter stating: “Fire up the engines – Big things are on the horizon. 06.08.25.” It was accompanied by a short video of a Kuniskis talking to David Sparks (aka Heavy D) and being interrupted by a fighter pilot grabbing cookies off a snack table. There’s a lot to unpack in that 10-second clip.
Ram’s big things?
Back in April Kuniskis made an announcement on LinkedIn (now deleted), stating that Ram would have 25 product announcements over the next 18 months, and that June 8 was the first of many. So, we’ve known this specific day was coming for a couple months.
But without actual details, we can only guess at what these big things (plural) could be. We know Ram had previously confirmed a midsize truck, so that could be one of the things. And Kuniskis has also said the next TRX would be more powerful than the last, so that could be another of the things. But a conversation with Heavy D also sparks other guesses.
What Ram TRX could be
If the Ram TRX is back on the table, which we think it is, then so is the Hemi engine. And since the last TRX, at its most powerful, delivered 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, speculations run amuck that either the Redeye or Demon powertrains from Dodge could end up in the next-gen super truck. That means you’re looking at 797 or 840 horsepower, respectively.
Which could account for the appearance of a fighter pilot in full gear appearing in the teaser. Whatever this truck is, it will have a serious launch control option.
What it won’t have? The 3.0-liter inline-six Hurricane high-output engine we see in the RHO.

What about a diesel?
The appearance of Heavy D, who is most known for his role on the reality TV show Diesel Brothers, could mean a diesel option is returning to the Ram 1500 lineup. But it could also be a red herring. Heavy D is also a custom vehicle builder and a monster truck driver.
So, this could simply mean there is going to be some big, cool monster edition of the Ram 1500. Or it could be nothing at all. Just a conversation between two truck guys.
Our take on the Ram TRX
We loved the Ram TRX for its sheer size, bad-ass looks and super-fun launch control. Nope, it didn’t fit in our garage. And, yep, we maxed out at 8 MPG when driving it. But, damn, it was just so cool.
With Kuniskis’ vow to stop the brand from “getting their asses kicked,” we expect big things, and can’t wait to see them on June 8.
