Many people wonder what the Lexus LX and Toyota Tundra engine recall warranty will entail after their vehicles get a new engine.
This recall was announced in 2024 and affects more than 100,000 trucks and SUVs with the 3.4-liter V6 engine. Toyota says they found debris in those engines causing them to fail.
The fix is to replace the engine completely.
Lexus LX, Toyota Tundra engine recall warranty
This leads to the natural question of what the warranty will be like for owners who receive new engines.
Amanda Roark, Toyota Communications Manager, said the repair will get a new warranty and that’s about it.
She sent us this information via email.
- There’s no change to the Powertrain Warranty because of the recall. It remains at 5 years, 60K miles for Tundra, and 6 years, 70K miles for LX.
- The recall repair also comes with a standard service repair warranty of 12 months and unlimited miles.
- These two warranties work together, and the customer is covered by whichever is longer.
Our take
Often when there is a recall like this affecting a powertrain component it makes a lot of consumers pretty nervous and for good reason. I think a longer warranty than 12 months would be appreciated.

I had my engine replaced. This is my first and last Toyota.

I wish Toyota would just take our vehicles with the engine problem and give us a new one same model. It would make me feel better or give us a 5 year 60k miles or better warranty.
