At this point, unless you are living under a rock, you know that Stellantis, the parent company to Ram, is sunsetting the Hemi engine and, therefore, the Ram TRX. But at least we know what’s going to replace it: The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO.

The details on this new model are scant, but we do have a few tidbits to share.
An off-road performance truck
The 3,179-word press release on the 2025 Ram 1500 has a mere two references to the RHO – both of which talk about how it will reinforce the off-road and performance truck lineup. Which has led us to believe that this is indeed the TRX replacement.
We don’t have any off-road specs or tire sizes to back this up, but it’s early days yet.
2025 Ram 1500 RHO powertrain
The Hemi is being replaced with what Stellantis is calling the Hurricane. It is a 3.0-liter twin turbo, six-cylinder engine and has a base tune as well as a high-output (H/O) option. As you might assume, the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO will get the H/O, and it will be rated at 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. While this falls well short of the 702 horsepower delivered by the TRX, it tops the base Ford Raptor (i.e. not the Raptor R) by 90 horsepower.
When will we see it?
Though we’ll get our first taste of the 2025 Ram 1500 in mid-February at a media drive, and the first production trucks are expected to be at dealers in Q1 of this year (aka by the end of March), we won’t see the RHO until Q3 (aka between July and September).
So, it’s TBD if we’ll have the chance to drive it in February, but we’ll likely have more details by then.
The bottom line
We’re sad the TRX is dead, but outside of bragging rights using launch mode to impress friends, who really used all 702 horsepower? We’ll be curious to see the off road and performance specs of the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO and bet it’ll be a spot-on competitor to the Raptor (not Raptor R).
And, no, we don’t know what RHO stands for, but if we had to guess it would be: Ram High Output.
So, stay tuned. We’ll share more when we get more.
