As Toyota is wont to do, it has released another tidbit of information about the new midsize SUV hybrid that’s coming. In addition to another teaser image, we have a name: Crown. While we speculated this SUV might be called the Crown Cross, we don’t see any “Cross” verbiage in the new image. So, TBD on that.

Toyota also revealed we’ll get more information on November 14 at 10 p.m. EST – just in time for the LA Auto Show.
What to expect from the Toyota Crown SUV
In terms of design, we can expect the interior to look similar to the sedan counterpart with the exterior to share some key design connections as well.
We learned from the last teaser that this will be an all-wheel-drive-only SUV, and it will be a hybrid.
As far as the powertrains, we’d expect those to be similar as well. Crown has a base powertrain, which utilizes a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. This powertrain has a total power output of 236 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. The up-level Hybrid Max system is performance-focused powertrain and includes a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine as well as two motors specifically design for the higher power output. Combined output here is 340 horsepower.

The bottom line
Obviously, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the new Toyota Crown SUV. But, thankfully, Toyota isn’t drawing this out over months, we’ll have all the answers next week. And we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another teaser between now and then.
Our big questions: Does Toyota really need another midsize hybrid SUV? And what happens to the Venza.
