In this week’s livestream, Publisher Tim Esterdahl and Managing Editor Jill Ciminillo kick off the discussion talking about the North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year (NACTOY) finalists, and the NACTOY voting process. Since this is a truck and SUV channel, they honed in on the finalists in those two categories, which are:
Truck finalists:
- Chevrolet Colorado
- Chevrolet Silverado EV
- Ford SuperDuty
SUV finalists:
- Genesis Electrified GV70
- Kia EV9
- Volvo EX30

Looking at innovation, technology, user experience, safety and affordability, Esterdahl and Ciminillo talked through the candidates, and asked viewers which trucks and SUVs they might vote for. Then they made a prediction on which vehicles would win in each category — none of which is predictive of how Ciminillo, a NACTOY juror, will be voting.
The conversation then veered toward the 2023 LA Auto Show and the reveal of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT, 2025 Subaru Forester and the Lucid Gravity.
The episode rounded out with what Esterdahl and Ciminillo are thankful for, and Ciminillo’s “actual” husband (no, Ciminillo and Esterdahl are not married) made a cameo.
