In this Talkin’ Trucks Livestream, Publisher Tim Esterdahl and Managing Editor Jill Ciminillo had a lot to cram into an hour. The bulk of the discussion covered the UAW strike, stating the facts behind what the UAW is demanding and what each of the Detroit 3 are offering. Currently, the UAW has only targeted three plants, one each from the Detroit 3, but if negotiations don’t progress, there is the potential for a larger strike by the end of the week.
After the strike talk, Esterdahl and Ciminillo moved on to the 2024 Ford F-150, which was revealed in Detroit on the eve of the auto show, and whether or not the price increase is worth it.
In Detroit Auto Show news, Ciminillo broke down what changes the 2024 Jeep Gladiator got, and spoiler alert, it wasn’t a 4xe powertrain. In addition to the same design and tech tweaks received by the 2024 Wrangler, the refreshed Gladiator also drops the diesel powertrain.
Finally, Esterdahl and Ciminillo alluded to a teaser from Ford Motor Co. in Europe, which pertained to a plug-in hybrid Ford Ranger. The truck was revealed on Tuesday, and as-expected, it won’t be available in the U.S.
Esterdahl and Ciminillo try to do weekly livestreams on YouTube, which are projected out to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. In 2023, they are switching to a Monday/Tuesday schedule at 8 p.m. EST, so be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel and follow them on social media for the upcoming live episode timing and topics.
