Tesla Cybertruck

Yet another Tesla Cybertruck prototype was spotted on public streets recently. While Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said production for the electric truck would begin in the summer of 2023, forgive our skepticism. All we’ve seen since it’s reveal in 2019 is delays, delays and more delays.

Beset by safety regulations and production issues, the truck just can’t seem to get a break.

But according to Teslarati, this new prototype seems to be the real deal citing Tesla’s Chief Vehicle Designer Franz von Holzhausen, who said the design of the truck has been finalized.

What’s changed on the Tesla Cybertruck?

As far as we can see from the shots found on Instagram, it looks like the biggest change is the side mirrors. Previously they were frumpy rectangular mirrors. Now they are sleek and triangular, mimicking the overall shape of this unique truck. The wheel design also looks better than previous prototypes we’ve seen on the web.

When might we actually see it on the streets?

As Teslarati points out in another article, it appears limited production will begin this summer at the Gigafactory Texas. The Giga Press is in place, and the casting molds were delivered in mid-January.

So, while we might see a few trucks in select locations this year, we won’t see a larger roll-out of vehicles until 2024. Assuming there aren’t any more delays.

The bottom line

It’s beginning to look like this Tesla Cybertruck thing might actually happen. Just don’t expect it to happen quickly – or the purported 1.5 million orders to be filled in a timely manner.

We’ll share details as we have them, so stay tuned.
