2022 Tundra window seal issue

New owners are reporting loose or ill-fitting window seals on their 2022 Toyota Tundras. Is it a major issue? No. But it does look bad and for owners who live in wetter climates, it could become a problem when water seeps into the door panel where it shouldn’t be. Is this 2022 Tundra window seal issue something we’ll see a recall for in the future?

I guess we’ll find out.

What is the 2022 Tundra window seal issue?

It seems the seal on the rear windows doesn’t always match up in the lower back corner. It is either too short, coming up and looking loose and sloppy or both. While this tiny gap may not affect the integrity of the vehicle or result in a lot of wind noise or water damage it is frustrating when you’ve just spent $50-60k on a new truck and it looks like shortcuts were taken.

What about the seal popping out? If it’s already coming undone at the corner and you can’t push it in and make it stay, will the wind eventually catch that and make it peel back even further? Only time will tell. Hopefully, if it does become a larger issue, Toyota will approve dealer service centers to replace the seal with one that fits properly.

What do you think of this loose window seal on the 2022 Tundra? Would this upset you or would you just push it back in and go on with your life? Watch the video then let us know in the comments!

  • I bought my 2022 Toyota Tundra September 20th 2022, I watched your video about the rear window trim gap , and yes my truck has the same type of open gap. I took a picture with my phone and text to my son in L.A. I was not sure if I should notify the dealership about such a small thing? I got to thinking of the rain water doing damage to all the electrical? Hell yeah I just got off the phone with the parts department at the dealership, and they are going to call me back to let me know if and when they can get the trim? Thanks for reading

  • My 2022 Tundra Limited has the same window seal issue on both sides. This is not Toyota quality. So far my dealer has not agreed to have them replaced but they have also not said no yet!

  • I purchased a 2022 Toyota Tundra Double Cab Limited, Rear door window seals were popping out. The dealer ordered new seals in March and I just got a call this week that the seals are in and will be changed May 24,2020.

  • I have a 1794 2022 and it has the rear window seals that are cut too short. If it were on the top of the window, it wouldn’t bother me. Being on the bottom of the window, it does annoy me and SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE because water IS going to get into those doors.

Thanks for your work in this area.
