Before the LA Auto Show starts its media days, Toyota did a little pre-reveal, launching a completely new SUV: the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia. Based off its lifted Crown sedan, the new vehicle enters Toyota’s crowd SUV lineup with a single powertrain, two trims and a lot of standard tech.
Here are five things to know about the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia.
It’s hybrid-only
We had speculated the new Crown SUV would mimic its sedan counterpart in a lot of ways – including the two hybrid powertrain options. However, the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia will only have one hybrid powertrain option: the 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with two electric motor generators. This system will deliver 243 horsepower and 36 MPG in combined driving.
TBD on whether the Crown Signia will ever get the up-level, sporty Hybrid Max powertrain like the sedan.
The 2025 Toyota Crown Signia has standard AWD
Similar to the sedan, the Crown Signia will only have one drivetrain option: all-wheel drive. northern states rejoice, but with the excellent fuel economy even with AWD, southern states should also be happy.

Design echoes the Crown sedan
If you are familiar with the Crown sedan, you will see the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia has a distinct family resemblance. The squinty headlights, mesh-like grille, single-bar taillight and lifted butt are included on both siblings. The interior design also bears hallmarks from the sedan – including the gauge cluster that flows into the infotainment screen and the strong horizontal design element.
One nice feature the SUV gets the sedan doesn’t have: A fold-flat second row that allows for a 6.5-foot load floor.
Standard premium features abound
The fact that the only two trims available are XLE and Limited should clue you into the up-level nature of this new SUV. Thus, it gets premium standard features like a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless Qi phone charging, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, power adjustable front seats and power liftgate. Available features include a glass panoramic moonroof, leather seats, heated rear seats, an 11-speaker JBL premium audio system and the ability to use your phone as a key.
Of course, the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system is also standard – as are blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Available safety features include an around-view monitor, front cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist.

Available in summer 2024
There isn’t currently any pricing information available for the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia, but as an SUV, you can expect it to cost at least $5k more than the $41,145 sedan. Expect pricing and more detailed specs to be available closer to its arrival in dealerships in the summer of 2024.
The bottom line
Frankly, we’re a bit confused about this new SUV in Toyota’s lineup. It has an up-market bent, just like the Venza. It’s a two-row SUV, just like the Venza. It has a glass roof, just like the Venza. It’s hybrid-only (you guessed it), just like the Venza. So, what happens to Venza?
Venza does have a mid-$30k starting point, and without any specs, it appears to be smaller. But still. This brings Toyota’s hybrid SUV tally up to nine.
