What if you built the ultimate overlanding HD truck? You would get the GMC Sierra Grande AEV edition concept with 40-inch tires, tons of lights, a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel and two, yes, two winches.

What is a GMC Sierra Grande?

Basically, the Sierra Grande concept uses a GMC Sierra HD regular cab combined with AT4X AEV edition components as well as prototype parts.

For example, is a prototype brush guard for enhanced front-end protection, four 7000 series off-road lights to improve visibility and a robust GM Performance/ComeUp 12.5k winch at the front. An AEV Snorkel was added to ensure the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine can access clean air, even in extreme off-road conditions.

In technical terrains, underbody protection is crucial. AEV installed the stamped steel front skid plate, IFS skid plate and transfer case skid plate from the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition to protect the undercarriage.

For suspension enhancements, AEV collaborated with the GMC engineering team to include various Sierra HD AT4X components, including control arms, steering knuckles, rear suspension and Multimatic DSSV dampers. This factory-tuned combination provides a 1.5-inch lift over standard HD models, improving off-road performance and versatility without compromising comfort or durability.

Thanks to the lift height gained from the AT4X components and AEV HighMark fender flares, the Sierra Grande concept boasts massive 40-inch BF Goodrich tires mounted on AEV Salta XD wheels. To complete the build, an 8-foot aluminum tray bed was installed, along with an AEV vertical tire mount, custom AEV rear bumper, custom external truck roll cage bars, ComeUp 9.5k rear winch and an ARB on-board air system. The vehicle is finished with a custom green paint package from AEV.

You can view the vehicle in person by visiting AEV’s booth No. 58151 at the SEMA show between Tuesday, October 31, and Friday, November 3, 2023.

The bottom line

We really, really wish GMC would consider building something like this, but that’s pretty doubtful since regular cab trucks just don’t sell that well. Oh well. At least we get to see what it could look like.
