The new 2018 Ford F-150 Power Stroke diesels are starting to hit dealer lots and pics are popping up on Facebook. Today, we spotted a dealer sticker of $70k for this pickup. Our question of the day is, would you pay that much for a half-ton pickup or would you opt for a 3/4-ton F-250 diesel.
This picture shows a new Power Stroke diesel on a dealer lot. The post says it is the first one they have gotten in and it looks pretty loaded.
Base model F-150 Power Stroke pickups start at $47,375 according to Ford.com and their build your own vehicle configuration tool. The cheapest pickup we could build is a Lariat in SuperCrew with a 5′ 6″ bed.
When we drove it a few months ago (see: first drive post), we couldn’t get an exact price from Ford and were only able to put together this paragraph.
“The Power Stroke V6 rings up as $3,000 more than the 5.0L V8 and $2,400 more than the 3.5L EcoBoost V6. Moving to the smaller 2.7L EcoBoost V6, the Power Stroke diesel is $4,000 more.”
We suspect the pricing we found on Ford.com is limited to availability and eventually Ford will offer a cheaper version of the Power Stroke diesel half-ton as supply builds.
While on Ford.com, we also built a 2018 Ford F-250 with a Power Stroke diesel. This pickup came in less than the F-150 diesel albeit with a smaller cab. It isn’t an apples to apples comparison by any means, but it does get you thinking. If you only wanted a diesel pickup, wouldn’t you just buy the F-250?
