2023 F-150 Rattler

If you truly take your truck off road, dirt is a badge of honor and skid plates are a must-have. But if you want expressive style in addition to capability, you’re often looking at a truck that will cost more than $50k. So, Ford Motor Co. is introducing the 2023 F-150 Rattler specifically targeting those with an adventure lifestyle at a budget friendly price.

Based on the base XL trim, the F-150 Rattler will include the FX4 Package ($1,005) as well as additional interior and exterior styling features. Thus, in addition to extra skid plates and off-road-tuned shock absorbers, you’ll see rattlesnake-inspired graphics, Rattler badging and a desert-themed interior. Specifically, the 2023 F-150 Rattler will include:

  • 18-inch aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires
  • Dual exhaust
  • Onyx seating surfaces with burnished bronze accents
  • Exterior colors: Oxford White, Avalanche, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, Antimatter Blue, Stone Gray, Agate Black and Rapid Red TriCoat

Though pricing hasn’t been released for the upcoming Rattler, it’s worth noting the XL with the FX4 package is currently priced at $39,860 because you’ll also have to add the XL High Package as well as the up-level 2.7-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine. So, we anticipate The 2023 F-150 Rattler will hit at about $41k.

The 2023 F-150 Rattler will go on sale this fall.

The bottom line on the 2023 F-150 Rattler

Trucks are expensive. The average transaction price of a new vehicle these days is about $45k, and if you look at full-size pickup trucks specifically, that transaction price jumps to nearly $58k. That’s because of all the options and upgrades people typically add since trucks are turning more into every-day drivers rather than simply the work truck of yore. So, $41k for an attractive and capable truck is certainly an easier pill to swallow in the days of scarcity and markups.

Now, the real question will be if Ford can produce them at volume and on time.
