A new year may mean a new truck in the driveway, so we took a look at the top 5 most affordable half-ton pickup trucks for 2026. This list looks exclusively at half-ton, internal combustion pickups. This list is not as simple as taking each brand’s advertised starting price. Vehicle destination fees have been a sneaky way for brands to raise prices without advertising them. Of note, we ignored current offers and discounts.

2026 Ford F-150 XL Super Cab – $44,890

Starting with the most expensive and working our way down to the most affordable, we begin with the best-selling truck on the list: Ford’s F-150. I was shocked that this was more expensive than all others, as the brand perception is that Ford is the best-selling because it is the most affordable. Our XL Super Cab does not have much in the way of luxuries, but Ford has increased the standard features list over the years.

Highlights:

  • 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine
  • 325 horsepower
  • 410 lb.-ft of torque
  • 10-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 36-gallon fuel tank
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 12-inch infotainment screen with SYNC 4
  • Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0
  • Choice of cloth or vinyl seating for 6

2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro Double Cab – $44,395

Unsurprising that the “Professional Grade” GMC outprices its Chevy sibling. What is surprising is the fact that this stripped-down work truck is flirting with $50k. Like the Ford, standard power is from a small turbocharged engine, but the GMC has 2 fewer cylinders, and the transmission is missing 2 gears as well. The Sierra makes the most of it, however, with more standard torque than the Ford, for less money.

Highlights:

  • 2.7L Inline 4-cylinder TurboMax engine
  • 310 horsepower
  • 430 lb.-ft of torque
  • 8-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 24-gallon fuel tank
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 7-inch infotainment screen
  • Choice of cloth or vinyl seating for 6

2026 Ram 1500 Tradesman Quad Cab – $44,170

The list’s first naturally aspirated engine comes from Ram with its 2026 1500 Tradesman. While the standard output Hurricane inline 6-cylinder is a $1,695 option, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 serves as the entry-level engine; there are no Hemi options on the Tradesman.

Highlights:

  • 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine
  • 305 horsepower
  • 269 lb.-ft of torque
  • 8-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 26-gallon fuel tank
  • 18-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen
  • Standard vinyl seating for 6

2026 Toyota Tundra SR Double Cab – $43,255

The Tundra has been exclusively 4-door since the current generation launched as a 2022 model, though Toyota still offers an 8.1-foot bed and has even expanded its availability to the SR5 trim for 2026. The most affordable configuration, however, is a double cab with a 6.5-foot bed in the SR trim.

Highlights:

  • 3.4L i-Force Twin-turbocharged V6 engine
  • 358 horsepower
  • 406 lb.-ft of torque
  • 10-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 32.2-gallon fuel tank
  • 18-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 8-inch infotainment screen
  • Standard cloth seating for 5

2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 Double Cab WT – $42,995

Coming in as the most affordable full-size 4-door pickup is the Chevy Silverado Work Truck. While GM still offers a regular cab configuration, this double cab compares nicely against the other 4-doors on the list. Current dealer offers and incentives mean I could find one here in Texas for about the same price as what I paid in 2007 for my LT Crew Cab Texas Edition.

Highlights:

  • 2.7L Inline 4-cylinder TurboMax engine
  • 310 horsepower
  • 430 lb.-ft of torque
  • 8-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 24-gallon fuel tank
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 7-inch infotainment screen
  • Choice of cloth or vinyl seating for 6

Honorable Mention – 2026 Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab – $42,620

Wait, wasn’t the Ford F-150 already on this list? Yes. In an effort to compare apples to apples, the official ranking on this list was only for 4-door models, but since Ford and GM still offer regular cab pickups, they were worth comparing too.

Yes, this regular cab Ford is only a few dollars cheaper than the 4-door Chevy we just covered, but there is a surprise under the hood. The only engine offered in the regular cab Ford is the 5.0L V8, making this the only V8-powered truck on this list.

Highlights:

  • 5.0L V8 engine
  • 400 horsepower
  • 410 lb.-ft of torque
  • 10-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 36-gallon fuel tank
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 12-inch infotainment screen with SYNC 4
  • Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0
  • Choice of cloth or vinyl seating for 3

Honorable Mention – 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro Regular Cab – $41,095

Stepping down to a regular cab Sierra means there is only one engine and one trim available, no V8s, no leather seats, no big interior screens, but this three-seat work truck still has the same features available as the four-door version, just with less weight to carry.

Highlights:

  • 2.7L Inline 4-cylinder TurboMax engine
  • 310 horsepower
  • 430 lb.-ft of torque
  • 8-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 24-gallon fuel tank
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 7-inch infotainment screen
  • Choice of cloth or vinyl seating for 3

Honorable Mention – 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT Regular Cab – $39,695

Yes, the cheapest truck on this list wears a bowtie. Insert affordable tuxedo joke here. Much like the GMC, only one engine and trim are available with two doors. The face of the truck wears a lot of black plastic, and the interior dates back to a 2014 design, but the price tag is eerily close to that of an LT trim of the smaller Colorado.

Highlights:

  • 2.7L Inline 4-cylinder TurboMax engine
  • 310 horsepower
  • 430 lb.-ft of torque
  • 8-speed automatic
  • Rear wheel drive
  • 24-gallon fuel tank
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • LED reflector headlights
  • 7-inch infotainment screen
  • Choice of cloth or vinyl seating for 3
