At the Detroit Auto Show in September, we were told on the QT that the Ram 1500 EV concept, dubbed the Ram Revolution would debut at an event before the LA Auto Show later this month. But now, Ram officially announced it will debut the truck at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 5, 2023.
The vague press release announcing the debut offers no new details and simply calls the concept “a visionary roadmap and a glimpse into the future.”
Why the delay?
Initially, the Ram Revolution concept was slated to be revealed at the LA Auto Show because that’s typically the “green” show where most EVs get revealed. However, EVs tend to be highly tech forward, it makes sense for Ram to delay the launch to CES, which is primarily a tech event.
What we do know about the Ram 1500 EV
We don’t know much about the Ram electric truck just yet. Even though we’ve seen some recent spy shots, we still don’t have a lot of concrete information.
We do know it will be built on the STLA Large platform, which is capable of achieving a range of up to 500 miles. But due to aerodynamics, we expect a truck built on this platform to get something less than that. We also assume styling will mirror the gasoline model – similar to how the F-150 Lightning mirrors the gasoline F-150. Plus, tech galore.
But beyond that, well, I guess we have to wait until January.
The bottom line
While Ram will introduce the production version of the Ram 1500 EV in 2024, we don’t know what that means for production or model year. But we anticipate we’ll see it in dealers by the end of 2024 as a 2025 model.
