According to Tuffy, this unit “…retains a completely stock console appearance while allowing full use of the armrest, interior tray, and factory USB port.“ Formed from 16-gauge steel, and finished with a textured powder coating, this storage unit skips the need for drilling and mounts in minutes. Additionally, this design allows the lid to remain open while accessing contents, thus turning the stock console inside the Wrangler into a heavy-duty lockable stow space.
Those looking for a flush-mounted solution will likely flip over Tuffy’s In-Floor Locking Cubby Cover (#358-01). Intended for 4-door models, this design replaces the factory cover without the need for drilling and comes formed from heavy-duty steel and continuous steel hinges for a secure closure every time. Featuring Tuffy’s signature “Pry-Guard” locking system, this unit comes loaded with a double-bitted security lock and built-in weather seals for added longevity. This way, when the In-Floor Cubby Cover is locked, it secures the vehicle’s under-mounted jack as well. Easily mounted with standard hand tools and available with a factory-installed combination lock for keyless access (model #349-01-A), upgrading your Jeep’s tailgate has never been faster or more rewarding.
Tuffy also offers a Jeep Wrangler Molle Tailgate Storage insert (#365-01), which comes with all of the features as the regular model and can still support up to 40 pounds, but with the added benefit of a Molle system. This allows you to effortlessly add additional items to the lid, and remove them with a quick snap or Velcro tab pull.
