A round up of brief pickup, SUV and automotive news items of note from the week ending April 10, 2026. No tariff relief for Ford despite fire woes.
We see a lot of news stories cross our desks in the course of a week. Not all of them are big enough to warrant a full writeup by your tireless Pickup Truck+SUV Talk staff, so we’re bringing you this weekly round up of all the little stories we thought you might want to know about.
No Tariff Relief For Ford Means No F-150 for Many

Ford’s woes continue in the wake of the massive fire at the plant that makes their aluminum, which we touched on in last week’s PUTT Extra. Seeking to relieve some of the pressure incurred by losing this important source, reports say Ford sought tariff relief from the Trump administration with no luck so far. Hope you weren’t trying to buy an F-150 any time soon!
What’s Your Favorite Truck?

The good people of Jalopnik put together a fun little roadtrip down Memory Lane with this feature on their readers’ favorite trucks. It’s light on substance, but heavy on nostalgic good vibes for anyone who’s been in the pickup world for more than a couple years. We weren’t asked, but we would have named the pickup you see above, site boss Tim Esterdahl’s “Swede”– just look at that classic beauty!
Autopian Threatened For Calling a Press Photo “Weird”

The folks at BYD/Denza (a Chinese automaker) hired famed James Bond actor Daniel Craig to be the face of their brand in Europe. Nothing weird about that, auto companies do it all the time! Then they released a bunch of photos where Craig is clumsily photoshopped in front of the vehicle and look, the pics are not weird! At all! Very convincing! Much realism!
Anyway, Autopian made an Instagram post where they called it weird (an OPINION, mind you) and BYD didn’t like that! Threats ensued! Copyright notices issued! Autopian isn’t taking it lying down, and good for it! Fight like hell!
