Ram has unveiled the 2027 Ram 2500 Emergency Response truck, as the first pursuit-capable 3/4-ton heavy-duty truck designed specifically for law enforcement, fire and rescue operations.
2027 Ram 2500 Emergency Response Truck
Built on the Ram 2500 platform, the new emergency response truck is engineered to handle high-speed pursuits while also providing traditional heavy-duty performance.

It will come standard with the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 producing 405 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 4.10 rear axle ratio. The truck has been tested to reach a top speed of 103 MPH, yeah, 103 MPH in a 3/4 ton truck!
The vehicle underwent evaluation by the Michigan State Police, including acceleration runs, braking tests, and durability validation at Grattan Raceway. These tests are typically reserved for pursuit-rated vehicles, underscoring the truck’s intended role in high-demand emergency scenarios.

Beyond performance, Ram equipped the truck with functional upgrades for field use. These include dual alternators rated at 400 amps, a vehicle systems interface module, auxiliary switches, and dedicated wiring circuits to support emergency lighting, communications gear and other upfits. Additional durability features such as a transfer-case skid plate and 18-inch steel wheels are designed to handle rough terrain and off-road rescue situations.
With a payload capacity of more than 3,100 pounds and available 4WD capability, the truck is aimed at agencies operating in remote or rugged environments, including national parks and border regions where traditional pursuit vehicles can’t reach remote areas.

The 2027 Ram 2500 Emergency Response Vehicle will be available for fleet orders in the second half of 2026, expanding the law enforcement lineup from Stellantis alongside models like the Dodge Durango Pursuit and Ram Special Service Vehicle.
