A round up of brief pickup, SUV and automotive news items of note from the week ending March 26, 2026. Wiring Harness Leaves Pickup Owner in Hell.

We see a lot of news stories cross our desks in the course of a week. Not all of them are big enough to warrant a full writeup by your tireless Pickup Truck+SUV Talk staff, so we’re bringing you this weekly round up of all the little stories we thought you might want to know about.

The Mysterious Case Of Missing Wiring Harness

You wouldn’t think an inconsequential part like a wiring harness could keep your truck off the road for a year or more, but that is exactly what happened to one unfortunate ZR2 owner after an accident. The necessary repairs included a wiring harness that, apparently, GM no longer makes…and using the “wrong” one (i.e. one not sourced through them) will void the warranty.

It’s now 15 months later(!) and our unfortunate protagonist is still waiting. The good news is that when The Drive reached out to ask about the issue, GM finally responded., so hope is on the horizon…maybe.

Ford Exec Gets Reliability Bonus Despite Record Ford Recalls

Ford CEO Jim Farley

You ever feel like the folks who run big companies are a little divorced from the real experiences of the people that actually support those companies? And look, we’re experts on trucks, not executive compensation, but it seems a little weird that Ford CEO Jim Farley saw his pay rise by 11% this year because Ford met some arbitrary quality milestones…in a year when the company has faced record numbers of recalls.

Maybe we’re looking at a molehill and calling it a mountain, but it’s hard to imagine looking at the mountain of recalls affecting thousands and thousands of angry customers and go, “You know what? You should get more money for all this quality we’re experiencing” especially when the prices just keep going up and up…

If you love vintage trucks, you’ll want to have a look at this absolutely gorgeous 1972 GMC Suburban. This bad boy just sold for a cool $91,875 at auction and, while that’s a pretty penny, we can’t help but think it’s money well spent. You won’t find anything with that kind of style at the local new car lot!

It’s an SUV! It’s a Pickup! It’s an EV! It’s…Weird!

This weird little beast was spied at the Bangkok Auto Show (do you ever get out to that one?) — it’s a all-electric pickup/SUV that opens up the rear compartment at the touch of a button. Not sure how practical it is in either use case, but it looks kinda cool! Read more about it at the report, or go check it out online.
