Ford and Carhartt may be two of the most recognizable work brands in America, but their relationship isn’t new. What is new is a formal, multi-year partnership that brings trucks, workwear, training, and community investment under one banner, all aimed at supporting the Essential Economy.
Announced at the Detroit Auto Show, the partnership between the two Detroit-born companies spans workforce development, durable products, and community-building efforts. Here’s what you need to know.
A Detroit-Born Partnership Made Official

Ford and Carhartt were founded just one mile apart in Detroit, and for more than a century, their products have shown up together on job sites across America. Carhartt has supplied workwear for Ford factory workers dating back to the 1920s, long before this relationship had a formal name. Now, the two companies are officially aligning to expand their shared mission of supporting skilled labor.
A Focus on the Next Generation of Technicians

Both companies are doubling down on workforce development, especially as the industry faces a technician shortage. Ford is expanding fast-track training programs through high schools and community colleges, backed by Ford Philanthropy and dealer partnerships with TechForce Foundation.
Carhartt is stepping in to outfit future Ford Auto Tech Scholars with custom workwear, ensuring students are equipped from day one — not just with knowledge, but with gear designed for real-world shop conditions.
ToolBank Comes to Detroit, With Ford Power

One of the most tangible outcomes of the partnership is the launch of the Detroit ToolBank, opening next month. ToolBank USA is a non-profit that provides free access to tools for trade education, community revitalization, and disaster relief.
The Detroit location will support more than 5,000 volunteers annually with access to roughly 25,000 tools. Ford is contributing an F-150 equipped with Pro Power Onboard, allowing ToolBank to transport tools and provide mobile power throughout Southeast Michigan.
Dealer Technician Workwear Gets an Upgrade

Ford and Carhartt, working with uniform provider Cintas, have launched a new workwear program for dealership technicians. Designed specifically for the demands of modern service bays, the lineup includes shirts, pants, jackets, sweatshirts, footwear, and accessories in both men’s and women’s sizing.
Dealers can choose between a managed uniform program — including professional cleaning, inspection, and repairs — or direct purchase. The goal is simple: keep technicians comfortable, protected, and ready to work every day.
A Super Duty Carhartt Edition Is Coming

You had to see a special edition coming down the road. For truck lovers, the headline-grabber is the upcoming 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt Edition, set to debut later this year. While details are still under wraps, Ford confirms the truck draws heavy inspiration from Carhartt’s materials, textures, and Detroit roots.
Designers even took cues from the manhole covers outside Carhartt’s downtown Detroit store, translating workwear authenticity into vehicle design. Expect durability, subtle branding, and functional details that reflect both companies’ shared DNA.
You might remember that Chevy did a collaboration with Carhartt back in 2017. Hopefully, for Ford, this one works out better.
More Than Merchandise

Beyond the Super Duty, the partnership includes co-branded apparel and merchandise, reinforcing the idea that trucks and workwear are both tools of the trade. Ford and Carhartt aren’t just selling products; they’re investing in the people who rely on them.
Why This Matters to Truck Buyers

This partnership is about reinforcing what Ford trucks have long represented: reliability, durability, and support for people who use their vehicles to earn a living. With training programs, tool access, and purpose-built trucks all tied together, Ford and Carhartt are putting real resources behind the trades that keep the economy moving.
More details on the 2027 Super Duty Carhartt Edition are expected in the coming months.
