The EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus power station and EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger make a powerful, portable solution for charging and electricity.
The past several years has brought great advancements in the ability to bring portable power with you when you’re off the grid, from family camping, a hunting trip, or an epic overland adventure. These days, with the right tools you can power a laptop, charge a mobile phone, run a portable fridge/freezer, connect your satellite internet, or do anything else requiring electricity, and it’s a game changer.
We recently used the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus Portable Power Station in conjunction with the company’s 800W Alternator Charger and found it to be winning combination. We took this setup on a 29-day trek across the USA from Nags Head, North Carolina to Port Orford, Oregon on the Trans America Trail. We found the combo to be impressive and innovative.
Practical, Portable Power

The Delta 3 Plus offers a 1,024 Wh capacity, and is expandable to 5 kWh with EcoFlow’s battery add-ons. Out of the box, this unit offers a 1,800W output which can power 99% of appliances, so it works as a great gas-generator alternative. It’s quiet at just 30 dB and charges from dead to 100% full in as little as 56 minutes. In fact, the first time we charged it, we figured there must’ve been some issue, because there was no way it could charge that fast! We have older power stations from other brands, and none are even in the ballpark of this charging speed.
The unit has 13 total outputs. On the front, you’ll find six 1,800W AC outlets (three grounded, three non-grounded), two fast-charge 36W USB-A ports, and two 140W USB-C ports. There’s also an easy-to-read digital screen showing output, input, and battery levels. Flip it around and you’ll find a 10A, 126W 12.6V output; solar inputs; an AC input for wall charging; two DC5521 outputs; and an extra battery port. The unit weighs 27.6 lbs. Compared to other power stations I’ve used, the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus hits that sweet spot of durability, ease of use, portability, and power. It’s not too large, too heavy, or too complex. It has plenty of juice for everything we’ve needed.
Game-Changing Alternator Charging (and Reverse Charging)

The EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus really shines, however, when paired with EcoFlow’s 800W Alternator Charger. This unit consists of a control box about the size of a laptop, and includes the required wiring to run to your rig’s battery. When installed, it’ll send electricity to the power station when your vehicle is running to keep it charged. Then when you park for the night, you can reverse it and send power from the power station back to the vehicle’s battery. This ensures your rig’s battery will have enough juice to start the next day. Unlike the power station, however, this part is not portable. It must be hardwired into a vehicle.
EcoFlow also has a robust app you can use to control the power station and the alternator charger. Bear in mind, you’ll need to use this to turn the alternator charger on and off, and to control which way you send power. If you arrive at camp for the night, you must use the app to switch the alternator charger over to send power to the battery from the power station—it won’t automatically do it. Conversely, if you don’t switch it from reverse charging to standard charging, you might end up with a dead power station.
Potentially Endless Electricity
The Delta 3 Plus and 800W Alternator combo could literally provide nearly endless electricity if you were to add a solar panel setup. So, if you’re considering off-grid power and a way to charge it with your rig, EcoFlow has a good thing going with its Delta 3 Plus and 800W Alternator Charger combo.
