The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is celebrating its two millionth Ram truck rolling off the assembly line with a Flame Red 2025 Ram 1500 RHO.
Two millionth Ram truck
The Ram assembly plant known as SHAP, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, has only been assembling the Ram 1500 full-time since 2018 when it was converted from a car plant to a truck plant.
Stellantis, the parent company of Ram, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Fiat, recently invested $235 million at the plant in 2024 to build different powertrain versions of the truck.
Starting later this year and into the next few years, SHAP will build the ICE Ram 1500 alongside, the Ramcharger extended ranger EV and a Ram REV fully electric EV.
Ram has started production of new production facilities near its existing heavy-duty truck plants in Saltillo, Mexico to handle the additional production needs for the ICE Ram 1500 trucks.
“The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is a core facility in our manufacturing footprint, tasked with the difficult responsibility of assembling the Ram 1500, a nameplate with ten trim levels and thousands of configurations,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram Brand CEO. “Handing keys to nearly 2 million Ram 1500 customers takes a strong team as we start an aggressive product cadence for Ram brand.”
Ram says, “the two millionth milestone comes approximately 6 months after the plant celebrated its 40th anniversary as a Stellantis-owned facility.”
“Not that long ago, SHAP’s future was in doubt so this is a remarkable accomplishment, and I am so proud of this workforce for their resilience and dedication,” said Chuck Padden, SHAP Plant Manager. “We have a lot to look forward to as we start building the Ram 1500 with a range of powertrain options, providing freedom of choice for our customers.”
This truck plant built our long-term test model 2025 Ram 1500 RHO we have been driving around the western Nebraska countryside and have been modifying.
