Ram ceo hints

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis hints at a massive product launch with dozens of new models coming in 2025 as part of his return to the top of the company.

The LinkedIn post was short and to the point with vague references to more to come:

Ram CEO hints explained?

While all we can do is speculate to what he is referring to with his teaser, it is clear there are several points he is trying to make with his message.

First, Ram sales just posted 2025 Q1 a decline of 11 percent and while they tried to spin the message to say retail sales were up, the market and skeptics saw the decline. Stating they are hard at work with many new products coming is sure to get people excited.

Second, there is certainly something in these models at the return of the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine and the TRX truck. Now, would Ram consider the Hemi coming back in different trim levels as separate products announcements? Probably. I know I sure would.

Third, he also tagged Ram Professional. This is their commercial lineup of trucks and vans. That’s a lot of volume for automakers and can be a source of continual profit with fleets flipping over their lineup every few years. Also, the van market is an area where I’ve long thought they can be competitive with GM going into the EV space and not finding a lot of success.

Frankly, a commercial van with the Ramcharger extended range EV technology would be a great idea for the commercial fleet buyer and really give Ram Professional a leg up on the competition.

Fourth, Tim Kuniskis also wants a cheaper full-size truck and so do his executives. Losing the last-gen Ram 1500 Classic, the truck based on a prior-gen offered at a lower price than the newer one, cost them volume and customers. There has to be a way to bring that back with the re-introduction of the Hemi engine. While fans would love the TRX to come back, the big win for Ram sales would be the Classic returning. That would be a shot in the arm for sales and for profit.

Our take

Buckle up. The next year is going to be fun as long as tariffs don’t ruin the fun.

I’m excited to see what they offer. They need to make some good offers to keep from losing any more market share.

This is great news. More trucks and SUVs to test and evaluate coming down the line.

I know it won't happen but my dream is for a Dakota that would compete against the Ranger Heavy Duty

I agree in part. I used to own a Dakota with a V8… great truck… a pipe dream now.

My first pickup was a 88 Dakota 4x4 with a long bed and V-6 engine. It was great for starting a landscaping business and I had a ton of fun with it.

They were a great size of vehicle… mine was a 2002 with the extra cab rather than a crew cab so.. the bigger box. Handy for my our rental property and for towing my boat and working on the finishing of our cottage. That v8 was quick. Had to watch the mechanical limited slip when slippery.
My first pickup was a 94 ford ranger 2wd manual tranny… gutless 3.0 L engine but a great truck as well.

My 3.0 liter back then was 140 hp(I looked it up). There was a 4.0 liter option back then with 20 more hp and probably way more torque.
Your 4.0 ranger is listed at 207 hp in google… quite the difference.
That 3.0 liter would force me to take a run at hills on the 2 lane highways if (I was towing my 14ft aluminum boat). I would have to drop 2 gears on a medium hill and go from around 60 mph down to 40 mph. It’s why I went to the Dakota next. Couldn’t beat the little ford though. Even pulled my brother’s Inboard outboard springbok out of the water on a slippery launch one day in a pinch. I still miss having a manual tranny.

Your era of Dakota was the inspiration for The Weekend Warrior by the Turtle Expedition.
