Our spy photographer said:

“A Super Duty spec Ranger had been rumored, but Ford just officially confirmed it with a new teaser image and video.  The teaser image consists of a single head-on view which shows hints of a new grille, and wider wheel arches—details which both appear to be in place on this new prototype.
This rugged Ranger test truck has flared wheel arches up front, with a design that’s completely different from the Ranger Raptor, or anything else is its Ranger model-range.  The front arch has a new light embedded into the rear-facing section of the arch—something not found on any other Ranger.  The front fenders are camouflaged in a graphic wrap, while the grille is covered in black mesh.  A new high-clearance front-bumper is installed, along with a very rugged front skid plate that looks ready for some serious use, whether commercial work sites, emergency services, or first responders.  Ford’s Safari snorkel system is also in place, to make it ready for the most extreme conditions.
This prototype looks to be a Chassis Cab set-up, with likely fortification to the chassis to handle much heavier towing and payload capacities—reportedly rivaling the specs found on the F-150—riding on General Grabber A/T tires mounted on rugged steel wheels.  The end result reminds of the 70-series Toyota Land Cruisers, which are legendary for their bulletproof nature and rugged capabilities.
The Ranger Super Duty is being developed by Ford’s IMG Product Development team out of Australia, with sales scheduled for Global Markets.  The prototype testing here is a RHD truck.  The Super Duty Ranger will allow end-users to equip their trucks for extreme use right from the factory, keeping the factory warranty intact by avoiding unsupported upgrades from third party equipment and installers.”

I like it. If it had an option for an exteded cab with six foot bed contractors would go nuts over it! The high payload and tow ratings allow for a lot of equipment rentals while being able to move around in the city and burbs easier than a full sized pickup.
