2025 Ram 1500 MPG

The official 2025 Ram 1500 MPG numbers have been revealed, and the Hurricane is a vast improvement over the outgoing Hemi engine — except for the high-output version.

These numbers come from Fueleconomy.gov, the official U.S. government source for fuel economy numbers.

Jumping right into it, the carry-over 3.6-liter V-6 continues to be the best for fuel economy. Compared to the Hemi in the 2024 models, the standard-output 3.0-liter inline-6 twin-turbo Hurricane, which delivers 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque, returns a 2 MPG jump highway and 1 MPG jump in combined numbers.

However, the high-output Hurricane engine, standard on the Tungsten trim, returns worse fuel economy compared to the outgoing 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi e-Torque engine. Plus, the new engine, which delivers 540 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, recommends premium fuel for the best performance. That means you’ll pay more per mile to drive the new engine versus the outgoing Hemi that required mid-grade fuel.

What else is new?

In case you missed the updates on the 2025 Ram 1500, we covered all the changes and did a first drive of the new truck.

Basically, it is a new powertrain replacing the Hemi, some new exterior and interior styling as well as that aforementioned Tungsten trim. There are technology upgrades as well with a larger center screen.

Oh, and I ordered a 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn for a year-long review.

The bottom line

Better MPG was expected with the new standard-output Hurricane, and the casual fan may say, yeah but it’s just 1 MPG in combined driving. This is actually a big deal considering that you get more power and better fuel economy than the outgoing Hemi.

On the flip side, the high-output Hurricane gets worse fuel economy than the outgoing Hemi, and you’ll pay more at the pump with premium fuel.

It remains to be seen how close real-world fuel economy is going to be compared to the EPA estimates.

  • I’m with you if your not shopping MPG your going to get a Raptor R or TRX I feel that the SSTHO is out of the question. HP is a lot of fun but can be too $$$ for a truck your paying 90K to start. thank you for the video I’m still leaning on the AT4X with the diesel
