The 2025 Subaru Forester will usher in the sixth generation of this two-row SUV. The design gets a complete refresh – inside and out – and you’ll see some new, advanced tech. Here’s what we know so far. To learn more or reserve your model, visit a Subaru dealership in Lake Placid, where you can explore the latest features and get updates on availability.
The 2025 Subaru Forester powertrain doesn’t change
Even though this is a new generation, the 2025 Subaru Forester will retain its 2.5-liter Boxer engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. This will be mated to the same continuously variable transmission. However, in its press release, Subaru says it has “smoother and quieter performance.”
Subaru also says the ride quality and dynamic performance is improved through a 10% stiffer chassis.
The design goes upscale
The exterior design is certainly recognizable as a Forester, with its boxier façade. But some of the squared edges get rounded off, and to our eyes, it looks like there’s a little retro theme, especially toward the tail end. The Sport trim will get unique bronze interior and exterior accents, and LED headlights are standard.
The interior gets a serious upgrade with more refined materials and an available 11.6-inch infotainment screen. The Touring trim even gets sueded accents on the seats and door panels that looks decidedly upscale. However, even with the up-level materials, Subaru made the headliner dark to hide scuffs created by stowing cargo.

EyeSight gets an upgrade
The 2025 Subaru Forester will get the latest version of the EyeSight driver assistance safety suite. This includes things such as a wider field of view, updated control software and an electric brake booster. Also new is the Emergency Stop Assist feature, which activates if a driver is not responsive to alerts while using adaptive cruise control. This new standard feature will stop the SUV, turn on the hazard lights, unlock the doors and call emergency services.
Other available safety features include automatic reverse braking, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
There’s other cool tech
In addition to the large infotainment system and EyeSight upgrade, you’ll see other tech features on the 2025 Subaru Forester, including wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 360-degree camera view, available heated rear seats and available ventilated front seats. Plus, for the first time on Forester, there is an available kick-activated power liftgate.
On sale in spring of 2024
Pricing information will be released closer to the on-sale date, but we do know it will have the same five trims: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited and Touring. For reference, the current base price of $28,390. We should see this 2025 model hit dealers starting in the spring of 2024.
The bottom line
We’ve always been a huge fan of the Forester for its size and standard safety tech, and with this interior upgrade and additional safety, we imagine this great SUV just got a lot better. We’ll share more details as we have them and look forward to getting behind the wheel of the 2025 Subaru Forester to see if it remains the vehicle we’d recommend for our mom (and yours).
