After waiting years for a Tacoma refresh publisher Tim Esterdahl was excited to get to see the 2024 Toyota Tacoma at the State Fair of Texas and again at the Texas Truck Rodeo. In this video he’ll show you both of them, plus compare the new Tacoma to the outgoing model and show you why he’d pick the 2024 and why you should too.
A stronger looking Tacoma
First we’ll take a look at a 2022 Tacoma and a 2024 Tacoma side by side. Granted they aren’t the same trim level, but they’re what was available and they both feature bronze wheels so we’re still apples to apples, right?
The first thing to notice is the new stance. The wheels seem to sit a little wider, the profile of the front grille has changed pretty drastically, and the lights are new. Overall, the truck looks stronger than before.
5 reasons we’d buy a 2024 Toyota Tacoma
1. Improved Entry/Exit
If you’ve ever watched any of Esterdahl’s Tacoma videos you know how he feels about the entry angle of the Tacoma and how he constantly points out how much one has to duck to get in without whacking their head on the door frame. Well, that bug has been squashed completely and the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a breeze to get in and out of.
2. Improved seat position. You now sit a lot higher and don’t feel like you’re sitting on the floor.
Tim isn’t the only one who has disliked the low seat position in the outgoing Tacoma. The new Tacoma features a higher seat for better visibility and increased comfort.
3. Turbo charged engine is going to be a whole different driving experience.
Having driven the turbo charged Tundra, Tim is pretty sure he’s going to love the new drivetrain in this 2024 Toyota Tacoma. And before you start hating on the new engine, you really must drive one of these trucks and experience it for yourself. The new Tundra is a thrill to drive and I’m personally looking forward to driving the new Tacoma.
4. Bigger infotainment system. Nice wireless charging. Better technology. New exterior features and styling.
Not everyone is as quick to accept new tech in a pickup truck. For some reason we see trucks as work vehicles that don’t need all this fancy stuff. But if you spend a lot of time in your truck, you’ll appreciate having some of these creature comforts and safety features. And then there’s the whole new look on the outside! What can we say? It’s brawny. (And Tim, that’s a lot of #4 reasons. Just saying.)
5. The new Trailhunter is badass.
There, he said it. With the new engine, new styling, new technology, and all the package specific features, the Trailhunter is the truck Tim would buy. Can you blame him?
What differences did you spot?
