Skipping a full refresh, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma will come with two packages offering more value and a custom look for consumers shopping for the SR5 trim trucks.
The 2023 Toyota Tacoma keeps the same engine choices, a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, the same design and suspension from the prior model year. So, let’s take a look at what is new.
2023 Toyota Tacoma SX Package
First up is the expansion of the SX package previously only available on SR grades. It is now only available on V-6-powered SR5s in the access cab (aka extended cab) or double cab (crew cab) models.
This package gives the truck black overfenders, standard 16-inch wheels get swapped out for the black wheels and blackout trim and black badging give this truck a bolder, rugged stance.
Also, the outer mirrors get blacked out and even the lug nuts are black to complement the wheels. Finally, a unique bed graphic kit finishes off the package.
No word on pricing.
2023 Toyota Tacoma Chrome Package
Going in a completely different direction than the SX blacked-out look, the Tacoma Chrome package adds the shine to the truck.
First, the package is only available on V-6-powered SR5 double cab trucks with a 5-foot bed in either 2WD or 4WD.Â
Next, the truck gets 18-inch polished alloy wheels and chrome-finished outer door handles, plus the exhaust tip and tailgate “Tacoma” insert all get chrome as well.
Inside the cabin, Toyota has a leather-wrapped shift knob. No other changes.
No word on pricing here either.
The bottom line
While some consumers will be disappointed there isn’t going to be a new Tacoma redesign for the 2023 model year, others will like the additional options and possibly savings from these packages over doing the work yourself. Expect these packages to be in short supply, however, as parts shortages continue to hamper the industry.
