My current project truck is a 1962 Chevy C10 with a stepside bed and 235 line 6. It ran when parked in 2006 and was my wife’s grandfathers daily driver for years. I believe he bought it new and drove it for around 20 years before getting something else.
The plan is pretty simple for this truck. First, we plan on pulling it out from the barn and getting it back to my house. Then, I’ll be working on getting the engine to turn over followed by working on the non-operational brakes and clutch. Hopefully, after getting these items addressed it will run and drive.
After that, the list is long. I plan to replace all the wheels, clean up and restore the interior, add an alternator for a future radio, replace the bed wood and add coffin rails. I also plan on keeping the patina and only do a clear coat over the entire truck. Along with fixing a few things like the front bumper, this will be it. I plan on keeping many of the dents as well. You know, the “character.”
