2024 Chevy Colorado sees big changes already

New details for the 2024 Chevy Colorado are out, and they reveal several big changes for the midsize truck — even though it is new for 2023.

The new Chevy Colorado launched with crew cab only, one engine with three different tunes and a new interior. This 2023 Colorado has been on the market for just a few months, though, launching late in the model year. Now it will see even more changes.

New engine tune lineup

One of the big changes has to do with the engine tunes available for the Colorado.

According to a GM Fleet guide, the 2024 Chevy Colorado will see the mid-tune “Turbo Plus” option go away, and you either get the work truck tune or the “Turbo High-Output” tune.

This means the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will not come with the 310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque option. Instead, you will either select the “Turbo” with 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque or the “TurboMax” version with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This change is more like the 2023 GMC Canyon that only comes with the TurboMax tune

The engine is mated to a revised 8-speed automatic transmission.

Bigger screen for all

Another significant change is all 2024 Colorado models will now come with the larger 11-inch driver information screen. This is the screen for the behind-the-wheel gauges.

For the 2023 model, the Colorado was offered with an 8- or 11-inch digital screen.

The 8-inch screen displayed:

• Driver personalization, warning messages and vehicle information
• Average vehicle speed and fuel economy
• Fuel range
• Trip odometer
• Tire pressure and oil life

The larger 11-inch screen shows:

• Driver personalization, warning messages and vehicle information
• Fully reconfigurable high definition cluster layout
• Allows drivers to personalize vehicle features, including warning messages and vehicle information
• Two instrument cluster layouts to choose from: Balanced or Enhanced
• Speedometer, tachometer, engine temperature, fuel level, mileage and trip displays
• Reconfigurable display with 3 themes
• Driver-selectable gauge display

The 11-inch screen wasn’t even an option on certain trims for the 2023 Colorado.

Other changes

Skimming through the fleet guide, it doesn’t look like there are any other big changes for the 2024 Chevy Colorado — except for the addition of the Bison edition.

The 2024 Chevy Colorado Bison comes with unique bead-lock capable tires and wheels, Boron steel skid plate, steel bumpers and unique badging.

No word on pricing for any 2024 Colorado models.

The bottom line

These changes for the 2024 Colorado really seem to be about streamlining some of the options and reducing the complexity for customers, dealers and the assembly line. This just makes sense for everyone and is good business.
