Ram is officially bringing back the muscle truck, and the new 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee lineup may be the wildest factory performance pickup since the original SRT-10 Viper truck.

The new lineup includes four different trucks with power ranging from a traditional 5.7-liter HEMI V8 all the way up to a supercharged Hellcat-powered SRT model making 777 horsepower. Ram says the top-level Rumble Bee SRT can hit 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach a targeted top speed of 170 mph.

Four Different Rumble Bee Models Offered

Ram is launching the muscle truck lineup with four different trims:

  • Rumble Bee
  • Rumble Bee 392
  • Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack
  • Rumble Bee SRT

The base Rumble Bee uses the return of the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Ram claims a 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds.

Stepping up to the Rumble Bee 392 finally brings the 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8 to the Ram 1500 platform for the first time ever. That engine produces 470 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque with a claimed 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds.

At the top of the lineup sits the Rumble Bee SRT powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat HEMI V8. The truck produces 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque while running the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds at 116 mph.

Ram engineers clearly focused heavily on performance driving.

Every Rumble Bee model comes standard with full-time four-wheel drive, but Ram also added a dedicated RWD button that disconnects the front axle for rear-wheel-drive-only operation.

The upper-level 392 Track Pack and SRT models also receive:

  • Launch control
  • Track mode
  • E-spool electronic differential locking system
  • Massive 325-width rear tires
  • Brembo performance brakes

Ram says the Rumble Bee SRT is designed for track duty cycles in 100-degree heat with upgraded cooling systems and additional airflow management.

Unique Quad Cab Short Bed Design Changes the Truck

Unlike a traditional Ram 1500, the Rumble Bee lineup uses a unique Quad Cab short-bed configuration with the wheelbase shortened by 13 inches.

The shortened frame IS a big deal since this took a lot work not only on the engineering side, but also supplier and then manufacturing side to make sure it didn’t disrupt production.

Ram says the shorter frame reduces flex by 10 percent while improving handling response. The trucks also gain significantly wider front and rear track widths along with widebody fenders and performance-focused suspension tuning.

The result is a truck measuring 88 inches wide with aggressive proportions clearly inspired by modern muscle cars and the original Ram SRT-10.

Despite the performance focus, Ram says the trucks still offer up to 8,890 pounds of towing capacity and up to 1,160 pounds of payload capacity.

Oh and why no 2-door? Because Ram doesn’t build one and as Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis pointed out for all the “keyboard warriors” only 3 percent of the truck buyers opt for one anyway aka nobody really buys them from Ford or GM anyway.

No eTorque Likely Means Simpler One-Battery Setup, No Dreaded Auto Start/Stop

One interesting detail buried in the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee press release is Ram’s confirmation that the trucks drop both eTorque and auto start/stop technology. That likely means the Rumble Bee lineup returns to a simpler single 12-volt battery setup instead of the more complicated dual-battery and 48-volt mild-hybrid system used in many current Ram 1500 models.

The timing is notable because Pickup Truck +SUV Talk previously reported on the elimination of federal off-cycle emissions credits that helped encourage automakers to widely adopt auto start/stop systems. Without those incentives, Ram appears to be leaning fully into the enthusiast market with the Rumble Bee lineup by focusing on old-school V8 performance, burnouts and track capability instead of fuel-saving technology.

What about other 2027 Ram 1500 trucks? TBA.

Interior Focuses on Performance and Technology

Inside, Ram leaned heavily into the muscle car theme with flat-bottom steering wheels, paddle shifters, bucket seats and dedicated performance controls.

The higher trims receive larger Uconnect screens, Performance Pages software, launch control buttons and available head-up display systems.

The top-level SRT model adds:

  • Leather and suede performance seats
  • Carbon fiber trim
  • Harman Kardon 19-speaker audio system
  • 14.5-inch touchscreen
  • Unique Desert Orange interior stitching

The lowest-trim interior features manually adjustable cloth bucket seats, a G/T console shifter, a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen.

The other trims levels are a mix between the two.

Ram Says Muscle Truck Buyers Still Exist

According to Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, customer data showed many muscle car owners also own pickup trucks, helping inspire the creation of the new subsegment.

The move also aligns with Ram’s return to NASCAR competition and the relaunch of the SRT performance division.

Production of the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee begins with the 5.7-liter HEMI model arriving in late 2026. The 392 and SRT variants are scheduled to launch in the first half of 2027.

Pricing is yet to be announced. I expect the top of the line to be priced like the 2026 Ram 1500 TRX with a starting MSRP of $99,995 ($102,590 after $2,595 destination fees) and it will likely be sold out within minutes after order books open along with dealer markups. The Rumble Bee 392 and 392 Street Pack is probably going to be close to Ram 1500 RHO pricing $73,795 RHO and with Level 1 $83,790 with destination. Finally, the base model is going to likely be in the mid $60k price range.
