The company has introduced a power retractable tonneau cover that reflects a broader shift in the category: turning what was once a purely utilitarian add-on into a piece of tech-enabled equipment. At its core is a heavy-duty electric motor that allows the cover to open and close quickly with the push of a button, a feature that signals how even the most rugged corners of the automotive aftermarket are being reshaped by automation.

That said, Weston’s retractable tonneau cover isn’t just about ease.
When closed, the cover is designed to create a tight seal against water and dirt, while supporting up to 500 pounds of evenly distributed weight, enough to turn the truck bed into a secondary cargo platform rather than simply a storage space lid.
“We built the Power Retractable Tonneau Cover to be tough as nails but still easy to live with every day,” said Tony Savasta, the company’s vice president of marketing, describing a product that aims to balance industrial-grade strength with consumer-friendly design. He noted that the company focused not only on load capacity but also on preserving usable bed space, engineering a compact 7.5 in deep x 11 in high canister that minimizes bed intrusion.

The retractable tonneau cover arrives with a set of features that underscore how expectations in the segment have evolved. A wireless key-fob allows drivers to operate the cover remotely, while a manual override ensures access if the vehicle loses power. Safety sensors are built in to prevent accidental pinching, and the system is designed for relatively straightforward installation using vehicle-specific hardware.
Equally important is retractable tonneau cover’s tighter tolerances, which are designed to keep out dust and moisture, a persistent challenge for truck owners who rely on their vehicles for work in a wide range of conditions. Meanwhile, the cover’s matte black finish ensures that this tonneau cover is an aesthetic enhancement as well as a functional one. Westin is positioning its power retractable tonneau cover as a broadly compatible engineering upgrade, one designed to fit a wide range of truck models from 2015 onward, thanks to its vehicle-specific mounting brackets and hardware.
Savasta framed the launch as part of a broader effort to bring more sophisticated tools to truck owners.
