It's going to be interesting. If anything, it reminds me of the purge and consolidation of the auto industry when it first started out in the late 1890's to 1910.

That's funny. My wife keeps saying that I'm immature. 🤣

This is a very interesting merger and I'm not sure I understand.

Honda's Strengths
Small cars, Midsize unibody SUVs, midsize sedans, Hybrid technology, brand reputation, brand loyalty

Nissan's Strengths
Body of Frame SUV, Pickup trucks, V8, Twin Turbo V6, Rouge, Seat comfort

For this to work, I'd have to think you shutter Infinity

  1. Bring the QX80 over to Acura
  2. Build the Titan off the QX80
  3. Keep the Frontier
  4. Shutter the Ridgeline as designed and shrink it. Base it off the CRV frame and build a compact truck
  5. Have a rock paper scissors competition between keeping Rouge and CR-V (I vote CRV)
  6. Keep Civic, ditch Sentra
  7. Keep Accord, ditch Altima
  8. Not sure between the Kicks and the HR-V
  9. Murano, Pathfinder, Passport, etc...sea of midsized SUVs that need consolidation

If Nissan doesn't give birth back to the Titan...I can't see how Nissan contributes to this relationship...Honda would be better off not absorbing Nissan.

Great points!

Weirdly enough, Nissan is way ahead of Honda when it comes to electrification so that might be the main driving factor along with body on frame vehicles and value cars.

A new truck would be a good fit for that new 3.5L V6 they have in the Armada.

They can use the Datsun name for any vehicles that are a collaboration between Honda-Nissan.

I'd love it if they brought back Datsun.

The 210 is legendary. Do you remember when Yugo came out with a convertible version? They had penthouse pet, Susan Napoli signing autographs. I was 17 and misspelled my own name. 😂

My wife had a well used B-210 until someone T-Boned her and totaled it. She was a poor student back then so we bought a brand new YUGO which she drove 3 faultless years then sold it to another student.

My brothers friend had a Datsun B-210 we treated it like a Jeep, it did things that should not be possible.

This merger is dead. Honda wanted full control... Nissan thought they were under valued.
